The 2011 Valentine Ball, “Love in Any Language,” was a rousing success. Tis was due in great part to the talented volunteers who designed the logo, recruited dinner party hosts, welcomed guests into their homes for din-ner, located and donated auction items, decorated the Parris Island Lyceum, found the band, chose the desserts, and so much more.

Ball Co-Chairs Anne and DeWitt Helm and Lisa and Paul Mazzeo worked for a year developing plans to attract people to donate and attend the gala. Both couples realize how important it is for the BMH Foundation to raise money for the expan-sion and updating of the George N. Pratt MD and Sarah Meyer Pratt Emergency Center. Tis wonderful and worthwhile event raised more than $233,000. People in our community look forward

to this elegant evening, set apart from others by the privately hosted dinner par-ties before the Ball. Col. Carter Swenson and his wife, Polly, have hosted 18 dinner parties over the years.

“It is so much fun to have new and old people in the community come to your home for this special evening,” Polly Swenson says. “We look forward to host-ing and going to the annual Valentine Ball.”

Beaufort Memorial, the Foundation, the Mazzeos and the Helms want to express their gratitude and appreciation to all those who participated so generously and tirelessly and helped make the 2011 Beaufort Memorial Hospital Valentine Ball so successful. Your support of the Valentine Ball continues to strengthen our hospital and the community it serves—and that is understood in any language.
