Beaufort Memorial
welcomes Andrea
Sadler, PT, as the new coordinator of
the BMH Total Joint Program. Prior to
taking the position, Sadler was a physi-
cal therapist in the hospital’s inpatient
rehabilitation department. She also
gained experience in coordinating a joint
replacement program at a hospital in
Tennessee.
The BMH Total Joint Program was
established years ago to involve our total
joint patients in their surgical process.
Pre-op classes explain how to prepare for
surgery, what is involved in the surgery
and what to expect during recovery.
Working with participating orthope-
dic surgeons, Sadler leads the Total Joint
classes and assists patients with their
needs prior to and postsurgery.

Joint Program, call Sadler at

Beaufort Memorial
has earned The Joint
Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for
accreditation by demonstrating com-
pliance with the commission’s national
standards for healthcare quality and
safety in hospitals. The accreditation
award recognizes Beaufort Memorial ’s
dedication to continuous compliance
with The Joint Commission’s high
standards.
Bringing home the gold
Beaufort Memorial underwent a rigorous,
unannounced on-site survey this year. A
team of Joint Commission expert survey-
ors evaluated BMH for compliance with
standards of care specific to the needs of
patients, including infection prevention
and control, leadership, and medication
management.
“In achieving Joint Commission ac-
creditation, Beaufort Memorial Hospital
has demonstrated its commitment to the
highest level of care for its patients,” says
Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, executive direc-
tor, Hospital Programs, Accreditation
and Certification Services, The Joint
Commission. “Accreditation is a volun-
tary process, and I commend Beaufort
Memorial for successfully undertaking
this challenge to elevate its standard of
care and instill confidence in the commu-
nity it serves.”
The Joint Commission’s hospital
standards address important functions
relating to the care of patients and the
management of hospitals. The standards
are developed in consultation with
healthcare experts, providers, measure-
ment experts and patients.
“We should all be very proud of this ac-
creditation,” says BMH President and CEO
Rick Toomey. “It’s clear that we have a
staff and a culture committed to quality.”
