your mammogram no longer has to be the
dreaded once-a-year event it used to be.
With the opening of the newWomen’s
Imaging Center in Beaufort Memorial Plaza
this summer, women can now have their
breasts examined in a comfortable, comfort-
ing environment—and not have to worry for
days as they wait to hear the results.
Designed with the healing arts in
mind, the center features relaxing interior
colors, soft lighting and soothing back-
ground music to help relieve anxiety and
promote renewal. Changing rooms open
into their own individual examination
rooms to provide patients with more pri-
vacy and personal space.
More importantly, the center has
streamlined services to expedite care.
An on-site radiologist will review every
mammogram just moments after the
screening, so you will go home knowing
the results.
Devoted solely to women’s imaging
needs, the newly renovated 4,100-square-
foot facility also ofers digital screening
and diagnostic mammograms, stereo-
tactic ultrasounds, bone density scans
and stereotactic biopsy. All of BMH’s
digital mammography capability has been
funded through community gifts to BMH
Foundation.
“We had been providing these breast
services in diferent locations throughout
the hospital,” says Daniel Mock, senior
director of Imaging Services. “When the
opportunity arose for us to have an area
dedicated just to breast health services,
we realized we also had an opportunity
to coordinate those services to be more
responsive to each patient’s needs.”
All of BMH’s digital mammography capability has been
funded through community gifts to the BMH Foundation.
