by Spirit of Women, a national
network of American hospitals
and healthcare providers, includ-
ing BMH, that are committed to
women’s health education and com-
munity outreach.
“Tese events are designed to
inform and empower women to
take action for their best health,”
says Courtney McDermott, who
helps coordinate the Spirit of
Women Program for BMH. “We call
it ‘health-U-tainment’ because the
event combines all of the things you
love about a girls’ night out—great
food, fun, friendship, music—with
advice on how to improve your
well-being.”
In keeping with this year’s
theme, Your Best Health Is in the
Bag, party organizers developed
a series of games that were both
entertaining and educational.
Nutrition experts developed
a shopping game to help women
make the best food selections at the
grocery store.
Te “Ta Ta Toss” gave ladies
the opportunity to test their
breast health knowledge, and
staf members from the new
Women’s Imaging Center were
on-site to schedule mammogram
appointments.
Te “Wheel of Bone & Joint
Health” was run by orthopedic
professionals who helped guests un-
derstand important factors related
to bones and joints. Free balance
screenings and a “Weigh Your
Purse” station were available to
advise ladies on the proper weight
and type of handbag to carry.
